Visit fish and vegetable markets at “Varvakios” with the chef
The hectic, colourful Varvakios market is the highlight of the vibrant Athens market district. It’s a sensory and gastronomic delight, with an amazing range of olives, spices, cheeses, fish, meats and deli treats.
The city boasts numerous attractions, however one of the must-visit places in Athens is the world-famous Monastiraki flea market. Here you will discover an array of vibrant, colourful stops and a wide selection of delightful souvenirs and traditional artifacts.
If you start at the top of Syntagma Square and walk down the steps and past the fountain, at the bottom of the square is the beginning of Ermou Street, a paradise for those who live to shop. Ermou street is a commercial avenue which has been turned into a pedestrian only street and is the primary clothing shopping street for Athens.
The Acropolis Museum is an archaeological museum focused on the findings of the archaeological site of the Acropolis of Athens. The museum was built to house every artifact found on the rock and on the surrounding slopes, from the Greek Bronze Age to Roman and Byzantine Greece.
Renowned for its diverse range of delightful restaurants and variety of international cuisines, Plaka is an enchanting cobblestone neighborhood embracing archeological sites, small tavernas, colourful flower stands and artisan shops. The area is one of many popular spots across this fabled city.
