Sharing the valuable secrets of a true Champion at The Westin Resort Costa Navarino!
Julien Benneteau, the French tennis player who won the men’s doubles title at the French Open 2014 visited The Westin Resort Costa Navarino and shared with us some really priceless secrets about devotion, role models, sacrifice, choice, and life coaching! And much more than this, he also had a couple of games with our tennis coaches and… some little guests!
Becoming a champion is not the easiest thing in the world: you need self-discipline, hard work, determination, winning spirit to name but a few skills. Starting at the tender age of 3, as did Julien, hardly you realize whether you have the vocation or not, you are just enjoying yourself. But sooner or later, you need to focus, to set goals, to manage your time… You also need to define your heroes, your idols and overcome them.
Julien commented on all the above: his roles models being Jimmy Connors, Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi, his job was anything but “piece of cake”: a champion’s everyday life, however glamorous the image may appear, includes exhaustive schedules, constant traveling, long periods far away from home: 25 to 29 matches throughout the year is a really tough task!
It is absolutely rewarding though: as Julien quoted, after a couple of games at The Navarino Dunes tennis courts, a hot afternoon in mid July: “I really enjoy it, I never desired to do anything else in my life!”
