#WeAreBetterWithPets – Navarino Pet Community spreads the word

Cute furry faces with happy tales, kids and parents, guests who brought their own dogs along, influencers and associates came together on 27-29 September 2019, at The Westin Resort Costa Navarino, to join forces for another successful #WeAreBetterWithPets dog adoption weekend, organized by Navarino Pet Community in collaboration with PURINA®.

Aiming to make the difference to the lives of pets and people, Costa Navarino’s amazing initiative protects and supports stray dogs from the local area, currently sheltered by Navarino Pet Community, while helping them find their forever home.

The weekend was full of exciting activities; from training sessions for beginners and advanced dog owners for a happy life together, along with a special Kids & Dogs “tips and tricks” workshop by the renowned Greek Dog Training Centre (www.ekes.gr), to fun bonding exercise with the dogs – like morning 5km RunWESTIN and Yoga at the resort’s gardens, and from lots of playtime at the Bark Yard to cleaning/collecting plastic when dog-walking at the nearby beach, all focus on raising awareness on the benefits of pet adoption and the importance of good pet care.

Five adorable stray dogs were adopted on the spot and are already homed with their new families in Greece and abroad. PURINA® supports all adoptions made during the weekend with free food supply for 6 months. Adoptions are still on and few more dogs may be soon leaving for their loving permanent homes.

About Navarino Pet Community
The Navarino Pet Community is an innovative animal shelter, established four years ago by Costa Navarino, that operates due to the voluntary services of staff members, offering food, medical care and love to the stray pooches in the greater vicinity. Housed in a specially designed space boasting five kennels and a garden, the shelter can accommodate up to 10 adult dogs and five puppies at any given time. As soon as one is adopted, another takes its place, rescued from what would most likely have been an unfortunate fate. Thousands of hours were volunteered at the shelter, providing dogs with veterinary care, basic training and adoption opportunities. The shelter has already placed over 40 dogs with associates and hotel guests in Greece and abroad. Several dogs are being sponsored by friends of the shelter who assume their monthly care expenses, while money is being collected for a special fund that’s already paid for the neutering/spaying, vaccinating and ID chip implantation of numerous dogs and cats so far.
